Busy weeks

Ty has had a busy couple of weeks. We've visited my parents the past two weekends and have been visited by friends and family. In other words, he's been passed around a lot and held by a lot of people. Here is when Aunt Becca and "Aunt" Stephanie came to visit.

A couple days later "Aunt" KaLee came to see him.

Ty was also visited by my old roomy Larissa, and his Aunt Christy and cousins Natalie and Paige.

Then his Great Grandpa Long (Jared's Grandpa) came down from Utah to get to know his newest Great Grandson.
Then two weekends ago we went with my family (my parents, Uncle Ross and Rob and family) to Glendale Glitters and Glow. That's where downtown Glendale is all lit with lights and covered with shop tents and fair attractions and then they line the streets with hot air balloons and light them up.
It's been a lot of fun, but now we're enjoying kicking back at home and enjoying Ty's developing smiles and reactions. His new favorite things are when I shake my hair around his face or rasberry on his tummy. My favorite was this morning when I was cleaning a spot next to him and I felt his tiny hand grab mine and I looked up and he gave me this big cute smile. My heart just melted!! Then I passed him to Dad and he kept giving both of us these big crooked smiles, especially when we kissed his cheek. He's so cute and getting so fun. I just love him and love being a mom!

Baby Blesssing

For all who would like to join us, Ty is being blessed at 11:30 on February 8, 2009 at our ward building. If you'd like to come call and I'll get you directions.

Turn on the dark I'm afraid of the light!!

This is a video I've been wanting to post but haven't got around to it. This is minutes after Ty was born and they put him under the bright lights to look him over and clean him. He didn't appreciate that to much, he just wanted to rest in the quiet dark he was used to.

Does he look like Mom or Dad?

Okay, everyone kept saying he looked like Jared and we couldn't really see it, so here are both our baby pictures. Take a look and vote over on the side on who you think he looks more like.

Jared Tyler, Nov 1981, 91b 13oz

Rachel Clarie, July 1983, 7lb 5oz

Tyler James, Dec 2008, 6lb 3oz

Baby Firsts

This is Tyler's first big trip to the park near our house. We go here most anytime we go for a walk so Tyler will become very familiar with this place as he grows up. Really it's a retention basin, but there are ducks and a little playground, so it works. He is six days old here and still getting used to day light. He had a little jaundice though so it was good for him.

Then his chord fell off so it was time for the first bath!

He really wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole thing. He started to fuss and then just stopped and had this "what" look on his face. He fussed much more the second time, but I think that's because paranoid mommy made it too cold.

There have been many other firsts, like the first time getting mom and dad with the built in fire hose (he turned on his side and got dad square in the stomach), first tummy time practicing lifting his head, which he does really well, first all night crying and fussing (K it was just 2-3 hours but it felt like all night), and of course, baby's first Christmas but those pictures still need to be loaded so they'll come later.

Tyler James

Also known as Ty, munchkin, Thor, peanut, squeaker, squirt, buddy, cutie... The poor kid is going to be really confused when he gets to Kindergarten.
I now understand what mothers mean when they talk about not thinking your heart could contain so much love. Tyler came into the world on December 15 weighing 6 lb and 3 oz and was 18 3/4 inches long. He is itty bitty and the cutest little thing ever!Within an hour of birth he was already lifting his head up, pulling his hat over his eyes to block the light, and finding and sucking his fist and fingers. Pretty big feats for such a little guy.
My mom tells me I'm really lucky and that he is such a good little baby. We had to work a bit at nursing but he picked it up pretty good and is now a pro. He cries when he is hungry or cold or getting his diaper changed, but other than that he just sits there and looks around, when he's not sleeping. Even when he cries they're just little cries usually, though he's starting to get more vocal now he's 2 weeks old. He's had very little spit up and usually burps himself.
As I said he is now getting very vocal including lots of squeaks, thus the name squeaker. He squeaks while sleeping, eating, fussing, crying, all the time. He also gets really bad hiccups, the poor kid, that make his entire little body shake, and they last forever. He's also starting to smile, which is so cute. Basically we have the cutest, most loved and spoiled baby. His mom and dad love to hold him and do everything they can to make him happy. He's such a sweet little angel, and we love him so much!

Baby Shower

Sat Nov 15th Steph, KaLee and Lisa helped put together a great shower for me.
I had such a good time seeing familiar, supportive faces and talking pregnancy. It helps me to hear other's stories about pregnancy and what not.

I also got awsome gifts and some really nice scrapbooking pages out of the deal. On the whole, it rocked! Little baby "Thor" and I were spoiled!
