Time to Get out the Pack n' Play

Well, Ty hit one of his big milestones today. This morning Jared set Ty on the floor on his back and went into the other room for a minute. When he came back Ty was on his stomach. He stepped out again, and then he was on his back again. Then later Jared put him on the floor to play and was sitting on the couch when he nodded off for a minute. When he looked down, Tyler was not where he put him. After a moment of panic he heard a crinkling sound and Ty had rolled about 2 feet towards the piano and was chewing on the REI Catalog (he really is an outdoor kid). Then I was playing with him on the floor as Jared was getting ready for class and he rolled right to his stomach, though he's been doing that for a while. Then Jared was walking out the door, I looked up to say goodbye and Ty took the opportunity and we both just caught him flip right over to his back. We kind of startled him with our reactions, but he smiled real big once he realized we were excited. Good thing I've been preparing for this by cleaning the floors and baby proofing. And as Jared said when I got home, it's time to bust out the pack n' play.

Trying to catch up

So working full time, being a full time mom and trying to keep a house halfway clean do not leave a whole lot of time for blogging but I'll try to catch up.
First off, we are saying goodbye to a good friend. The mazda miada was the ultimate single girl car, and a sweet newlywed car, but it is not really the best family car. Thus, it is time to send it on to bigger and better things.
We will miss it though, it's been a great car, especially with the top down and great weather! I'll have to be sure to take her for one more spin before we sell her. (Any takers? She'll probably go fast)

Easter was a lot of fun this year. We got together with my family on Saturday so that we could go out and do things after the festivities instead of being cooped up in the house all day. We planned on going for a walk in the desert. Well, then it rained and we were all stuck inside anyway. But it was still a lot of fun.
Tyler liked watching his cousins find eggs and candy and I enjoyed eating way too much chocolate as well as hiding the eggs and talking with my family. We played cranium which was a blast except for when I lost track of Ty wile he was standing and he bonked his head. He was okay though barely a red mark, it sounded worse than it was.
Then this last Saturday we got to go to the park and Tyler got to have his first solo ride in the swing. He wasn't sure what to think at first, but then he loved it! He also got to go on the playground and down the slides. He is getting so big. He flips onto his stomach now, especially when going to sleep. He gets his binki and flips on over. He also talks non stop when he's in the mood. His laugh has gotten a lot stronger and is starting to get a cute little giggle, especially when you tickle his neck. He loves smiling at himself in the mirror and is a thrill seeker and loves getting bounced around on the bed or even the trampoline (little jumps of course). He's also getting pretty good at sitting up and I swear is made of pure muscle. I'll hold him up horizontal like superman and he'll keep himself stiff as a board. He's super cute and his eyes are getting to be a light blue like me, though he'll be built like his dad I think. He also has a cute little dimple in his right cheek.

Spring Break

We had a busy spring break right before work. We all went to stay with my parents for about 5 days and we went to Cabella's, the shopping center next to the UoP Stadium, and I even got to visit with my old roomy Britney. Here's the pictures, that's the important part. Oh, and Becca and I chopped our hair. Ty was even dressed for Safari

It's the Circle of Life!!

Super cute nephew Josh

Rahjah Ty

This is a super cute picture and video I forgot to upload a few weeks ago. Oh it just makes me laugh!! Ty was napping in his bouncer and I walked over to check on him and this is what I saw... again, I did not do this, when I left him he was resting with his blanket lightly draped over him. Watch the video first if you can.

Back to work

Starting last Monday it was back to work. It was really hard to leave Ty and still is but we are coping well. I've had fun seeing my students again, I had missed them. I got my hair cut for the occasion, and Ty even got all dressed in a shirt and tie for work as well. Going back now is okay though because it's only 9 weeks and then summer vacation. Next year is going to be the hard one! Especially because I'll have to travel to different schools a whole lot more. But, right now we are doing well despite having to be separated, Jared is learning how to balance school work and being a stay at home dad, and Ty is starting to learn how to use his hands and how to roll onto his side, he even rolled all the way to his stomach twice the other night trying to get his binki.

Food Allergies

So maybe I should have become a doctor. I sort of enjoy figuring out why something is wrong. Poor Ty has had some skin and tummy issues and I've spent the past two months going off certain foods and trying foods at certain times in order to find out what food allergies Ty has. So far I'm 95% certain he is allergic to corn, (Jared was allergic to corn when he was an infant. That chunky baby you saw in an earlier blog lost about 2 lbs in 3 weeks.) and as of today I am about 70% certain soy is causing his eczema. I've had quite a bit the last few days and today it had a big flare up. Also probably why he's been cranky the last few days and not sleeping well. So, it's now off all soy, tofu, soybean - milk - flour, basically all processed foods because apparently 60% of processed foods contain soy and the other 40% contain artificial or natural flavors which is also soy. Fabulous! Apparently soy oil is okay though and soy lecholdsjkdl something or other is okay in most case. So starting now I am off of food. But hey, if it makes my baby feel better it's worth it. Fortunately most children outgrow their soy allergies by 3 to 5 years old.
